Most of what the WyvernLeague does is on IRC, not the forums. You can find the WyvernLeague on #mtg at irc.wyvernirc.net . If you do not have a client that can connect to IRC, please see www.wyvernirc.net/webchat.html for a few webchats.
Our channel, #MTG , is WyvernIRC's channel for Magic: The Gathering discussion and gameplay. Gameplay has priority in #mtg so if a game is playing please discuss in #mtgdiscussion .
It is the goal of this channel that we keep the experience here safe and fun for everyone. Because of that, there are a few simple guidelines I would ask be followed:
Scorekeeping:
Please use JaceBot to keep track of your life and player counters. It makes things much easier.
Card Lookup:
JaceBot allows you to look cards up using the Yawgatog Oracle database (sort of).
If the bot is unable to fetch a card for some reason, look on Gatherer yourself for the Multiverse ID and add the card to the bot as requested.
Please do not be lazy and demand that your opponents tell you what every single card does, that gets annoying.
Deck Expectations:
Generally speaking, all formats are welcomed here. However, using a deck that is clearly superior to an opponent's deck is generally disapproved of. Not everyone in the channel is a tournament-level pro nor are we all first-time players. Everyone learns and is present at their own pace, and it is little fun playing unbalanced matches. Just use common sense here and you should be fine. I will, however, discuss a few major issues.

- Card Proxying/Programs -- Some people can't afford cards, and therefore use a program such as Lackey to play duels. This is fine. Some people use it to test duels. Some people print out proxies, etc. This is generally fine. That said, using proxies gives you an inherent advantage due to the fact that your card pool is effectively unlimited. Please keep this in mind as you determine your deck's level, and remember that some people may have a dislike of proxies.
- A similar issue can occur when you have a large (real) card pool -- please consider such when you determine levels.
- When playing against players who are new to the game, try to be reasonable with the types of decks you play until you are familiar with their comfort level. It is smart to avoid decks that are heavy on any type of removal, lock mechanisms, or other disruption. It is also smart to avoid decks that play threats are are extremely aggressive or hard to deal with.
- Experienced players who are new to the channel might also have differing ideas of what constitutes a reasonable and fun match. However, in this case you can usually ask.
- In general, don't feel forced to play against any kind of deck you aren't comfortable with, but you and your opponent should try your best to accomodate each other and meet at a middle ground that is feasible for both of you if possible.
- Landkill -- We have a few members who have an issue with land destruction decks and "mass" landkill cards, make sure your opponent is not one of them before playing them. (A few spot land removers doesn't make a deck a landkill deck -- either a dedicated deck or one with multiple mass removers would be what is needed to qualify as such.) I name this deck specifically because it is very unique in Magic and can be a deck that causes some people in our group to take issue.
- Commander: "And Cards Like Them" -- this phrase is found on the mtgcommander website when referring to the banlist. People have different ideas of what that means. Please keep fun in mind as you construct and play Commander decks.
- Wish Cards: Please be kind. In the interest of brevity, please have a sideboard that you can fetch cards for Wish effects. Even if you are involved in casual play, a limit of 15 possible cards is not unreasonable -- especially as that's the only reason you will (likely) have the sideboard.
