So, I like traveling. I like seeing things, going places. Specifically, I'd like to go to as many places as possible.
I have some standing travel goals. I will discuss my progress on each on them.
I consider something as simple as driving through a place sufficient to count it. Taking a train is a bit iffy (though this is only relevant for a small stretch of land). Flying over definitely does not. Landing does.
The various regional divisions of the places that contain my home:
1. Each city in San Diego County. I actually have all of these. I've been near enough to everywhere. There are definitely some small unincorporated communities I've missed, but I've got every full city.
2. Each county in California. I have this as well. A county-by-county map can be found here. This map also applies to show the next level.
3. Each state in the United States (plus the District of Columbia). Progress: 21/51. I'm working on it.
4. Each country in North America. Progress: 2/3. Still haven't made it into Canada yet.
5. Each populated continental region of Earth. Progress: 2/6. Okay, so my world travel ambitions aren't entirely realized. I don't actually leave the United States very much. I'm sure I'll eventually find the occasions to do so. (Sadly, I'm writing this during a pandemic, and a moron is President, so travel is very much halted for some time.)
6. Each inhabitable planet in the solar system. There's only one. I have it. There is no Planet B. (Okay, this one is a bit tongue-in-cheek, but I think the point is valid, even if slightly off topic.)
Not directly part of the listing, but the current country count is 3: United States, Mexico, New Zealand.
A discussion of travel as it relates to sports shall proceed on the next post.
